General Purpose: 

Yale University Press is seeking a senior editor to acquire, develop, and oversee publication of books in the physical sciences, mathematics, and the history of science aimed at a range of audiences, from students to general readers.

Required Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of four years publishing experience in editorial acquisitions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.



  • Established track record in publishing top-tier scientists, scholars, and popular science writers.
  • Established international network of academics, journalists, agents, and other public figures writing on or about the sciences.
  • Experienced supervising and managing editorial staff.
  • Preferred Education and Experience: 8 or more years of publishing or related experience preferred.
