Assistant Acquisitions Editor


The Assistant Acquisitions Editor will work closely with the Press’s acquisitions staff in developing and acquiring a robust list of general-interest and scholarly titles in a range of disciplines. The Assistant Editor/ Acquisitions Assistant primarily will work with the Director and Editor-in-Chief to provide a high level of support in managing the cultivation of prospective authors, the development and evaluation of manuscripts, and project management entailed in guiding new books through all aspects of the publication process. The Assistant Editor/ Acquisitions Assistant will also have the opportunity to identify, develop, contract, and deliver for publication a specific number of projects (approximately 2-4 per year), contributing to the Press’s publishing mission in areas of established interest.

Assistant Acquisitions Editor will be responsible for performing the core responsibilities of an acquisitions editor, including project management, assessment of needs and opportunities in particular fields of publication, identification of prospective authors and appropriate manuscript reviewers, hands-on editorial development of manuscripts, written and oral presentation of project descriptions and publishing plans to Press colleagues and members of the Press Editorial Board, and care for authors’ work through the entire publication process.
