The University of Iowa Press seeks an experienced editor to acquire both academic and trade books, transmitting eighteen to twenty new titles per year. Acquisitions areas include fandom and culture, theater history and criticism, public humanities, book history and arts, literary studies, food studies, and regional studies.

The editor is responsible for but not limited to procuring, shaping, monitoring, and developing projects; overseeing the peer review and revision process; gaining board approval; and transmitting fully prepared manuscripts to the managing editor. The editor will work collaboratively with series editors, authors, colleagues, and other press stakeholders. Travel to approximately five academic conferences a year is required.

The position is located in Iowa City, Iowa a UNESCO City of Literature and home of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, International Writing Program, Center for the Book, and the renowned Prairie Lights Books. Telecommuting is not available.
