A Licensing Solution for All: AAUP and CCC Offer New Discount Program

In March 2012, AAUP was very pleased to announce a referral partnership with Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC) for the RightsLink® service. This CCC service is an easy-to-use licensing solution, enabling rightsholders to offer permissions wherever content is located: hosted on a website, mobile application, or third-party aggregator. AAUP's members can now implement RightsLink to protect copyrighted assets and earn revenue from their online content at a discounted rate.

"At a critical time in publishing, AAUP understands our members can benefit greatly from a powerful solution that makes licensing seamless for end users," said Brenna McLaughlin, AAUP's Director of Marketing and Communications. "We are pleased that this new program will help more university presses take advantage of the proven functionality of RightsLink."

The AAUP-CCC program launched with a "Fast 15" webinar to introduce interested AAUP member presses to the features and service tiers available. More than forty individuals registered for the convenient session, and CCC continues to offer individualized demos to AAUP members.

"With more than thirty years of experience, CCC has incorporated best practices in rights licensing into RightsLink," said Miles McNamee, Vice President of Licensing and Business Development at CCC. "It improves the customer experience, simplifies the licensing process and generates new revenue.

CCC, a not-for-profit organization and leading provider of licensing solutions, partners with application developers and service providers to offer corporate, academic, and publisher customers a broad set of solutions that simplify copyright compliance. AAUP works with a variety of service providers to offer member publishers valuable programs and benefits at accessible costs. This latest addition to AAUP's slate of member benefits provides options for presses of all sizes to more effectively handle the intensive work of permissions activity.
