Public Access to Scholarship

The Office of Science and Technology Policy has just released the comments received on its request for information on the preservation of and public access to federally-funded research. AAUP submitted comments reiterating support for the core principals and recommendations of the June 2010 Scholarly Publishing Roundtable report (PDF). The OSTP undertook this request for information in order to begin addressing the public access requirements of the America COMPETES Act. This process may help inform both the legislative and public debate surrounding the recently introduced Research Works Act (RWA) and a potential reintroduction of the Federal Research Public Access Act (FRPAA).
