What is this?
For three years, the University Press Week Task Force has brainstormed and debated a slogan for our annual UP Week campaign but we've come up lacking every time. The tag lines needs to convey the breadth and depth of what our members do. And this is not limited to only the UPs but the innovative affiliate members too like the American Historical Association, Getty Publications, Islands Press, National Gallery of Art and so many others. We've wrestled with this since 2012 but our slogans have been too long, uninspiring, or just plain unmemorable. It's worse than a cover meeting!

We need some fresh ideas, and so we're throwing open the gates to the inspiration, insight, wit, and wisdom of our colleagues. We hope the AAUP hive mind will come together and help us find a solution to our slogan problem!

What is University Press Week?
University Press Week is an annual celebration of the contributions university presses make within their communities and around the world. University presses and nonprofit scholarly publishers provide an invaluable service through the works they publish and make an unparalleled contribution to society. AAUP members undertake this work year round and individually highlight and communicate what they do locally, regionally and nationally for their individual projects. University Press Week allows us to celebrate the value and quality of university presses as a whole and take a moment to reflect on what they add to our culture. University Press Week will be held from November 9-15, 2014.

Award: The selected winner will receive a free ad space in the University Press Week group ad in the London Review of Books for their press.

How will the slogans be used?
The winning University Press Week slogan and other submissions may be used in press materials, online in social media forums, in advertising, and elsewhere. University Press Week is an annual event, so the slogan selected and other great slogan entries may be used in the future.

Selection Process: The winning slogan will be selected by the University Press Week Task Force with the help of AAUP staff and board representatives. The entry deadline is October 14th at 12pm EST. The winner will be notified on Thursday, October 16, 2014.
