Alternate Hotel

The Holiday Inn Mart Plaza's sister property the Amalfi Hotel (a few blocks from the Mart Plaza) has set aside a few rooms for AAUP attendees at rate of $209 a night (includes breakfast and evening reception at the hotel). Attendees can book either by calling the reservation department at 877-262-5341 and mention that they are with the Association of American University Presses meeting or via this custom booking link.

Please book by May 18 May 25 (extended deadline!) to take advantage of this rate.

Travel Information

Arriving by Air

Two airports service Chicago.

O'Hare International is serviced by most major carriers. O'Hare is 13 miles from downtown, and is one world's largest and busiest airports.

Midway is located about 10 miles from downtown, and is served by Delta, Southwest, Frontier, and a few other discount carriers.

Ground Transportation to Mart Plaza

Airport Express Shuttle
Airport Express operates shuttle services from both Midway and O'Hare airports. The cost is approximately $50 roundtrip from O'Hare and $40 Roundtrip from Midway.

Annual meeting attendees can get a 10% discount if they book in advance via one of the following methods:

Taxi
A one-way taxi fare to or from Chicago airports should cost between $40 and $50. Travel time is between 30-45 minutes depending on traffic.

Mass Transit
Both airports are accessible by train. There is a Brown line CTA "L" station at the Merchandise Mart adjacent to the Mart Plaza.

The Mart Plaza offers the following directions:

  1. Take CTA BLUE LINE (from O'Hare Airport) or ORANGE LINE (from Midway Airport) toward Chicago Downtown.
  2. Exit at Clark/Lake Station
  3. Switch to CTA BROWN LINE
  4. Get off at Merchandise Mart Station (fist stop) .
  5. Walk through Merchandise Mart to Holiday Inn Mart Plaza
    Note: Walk-Through Door is closed after departure of last train on Saturday until arrival of first train on Monday. During this time, please use main entrance of Merchandise Mart on W North Bank Dr to leave the building & go right to the hotel entrance.
