  • Both the University of Akron Press and Wesleyan University Press have made the National Book Awards poetry shortlist for Leslie Harrison's The Book of Endings and Shane McCrae's In the Language of My Captor, respectively.
  • The University of Massachusetts Press is launching Bright Leaf, a new imprint with a regional focus on New England’s cuisines, landmarks, and more.
  • Ohio State University Press has launched a new imprint, Latinographix which will showcase trade graphic and comic books—graphic novels, memoir, nonfiction, and more—by Latinx writers and artists.
  • Princeton University Press has opened an office in Beijing, China, allowing the press “to play a more important role in fostering cross-cultural academic conversations.”

  • Cornell University Press has launched a new imprint, Three Hills, covering the Empire State, its people, heritage, Cornell University, and more
  • The University of Iowa Press book, Life and Adventures of Jack Engle: The Lost Novel of Walt Whitmanis becoming an audiobook narrated by Jon Hamm.
  • University of Michigan Press has posted a video on scholars’ needs for hosting platforms such as the Mellon-supported Fulcrum project.
  • The University of Minnesota Press and partners have rolled out Manifold version 0.2.0.
  • The MIT Press has partnered with the Internet Archive to scan, preserve, and enable libraries to lend hundreds of MIT Press books that are currently not available digitally, with support from Arcadia.
  • University of New South Wales Press has been named Small Publisher of the Year at the 2017 Australian Book Industry Awards, presented at a gala dinner held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales on May 25. Congratulations!
  • RIT Press raised $29,733 (against a $20,000 goal) from 344 backers in a Kickstarter campaign to support the reissue of Vignelli A to Z. The project goes forward and the volume can be pre-ordered from the Press.
  • Rutgers University Press is launching a new series of thematic volumes of reportage, engaged research, and critical reflection on contemporary LGBTQ political, social and cultural issues, called Q Public

May 2017

  • Cornell University Press director Dean Smith wrote in JamBase about Cornell's recently published book Cornell ’77: The Music, The Myth And The Magnificence Of The Grateful Dead’s Show At Barton Hall by Peter Connors (which was also featured in the newsest Grateful Dead boxed set). Read the full piece >
  • Michigan Publishing, the publishing division of the University of Michigan Library, and LYRASIS have announced a partnership to provide sales and administrative support for content and services offered through the platform known as Fulcrum, currently under development at Michigan Publishing with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

  • Manifold has launched a public beta of its new publishing platform for interactive scholarly monographs. Funded through the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Manifold is a collaboration between University of Minnesota Press, the GC Digital Scholarship Lab at the Graduate Center, CUNY, and Cast Iron Coding.

  • Cornell University Press, Fordham University Press, Syracuse University Press, and Temple University Press have been awarded grants from the Humanities Open Book Program, jointly funded by the NEH and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Congratulations to all!
